Radian Vineyard is a relatively new vineyard in the Sta. Rita Hills and this 2013 bottling represents the fourth crop from there. Radian is comprised of small blocks of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay on very steep hillsides that sweep across the far southwestern border of the Sta. Rita Hills. This wine is from a block of clone 777 and it was aged in older, neutral, French oak barrels so we could get a really clear look at how this clone performs there. It has great Pinot Noir qualities on the nose and palate but with a striking dose of minerality from the ancient seabed soils it is planted in.
Tasting Note: Bright, vibrant ruby/garnet color in the glass. The nose is fresh and intense with dusty cherry and bright raspberry. On the palate the wine has medium weight and remains lively with more berries and an earthy minerality. Fine tannins and a bit of spice from the light use of stems are apparent on the finish.
Comes with a wooden box.
